The Jenny/Curtis Project: Day 2

Cheesy crepes with prosciutto, kalamata olives and sundried tomatoes. yes please.

I was pretty excited to makes crepes because I never have before but have always wanted to. I've always been kinda scared or daunted at the thought of making them though, they seem like it'd be super hard! But they totally weren't, it was way easier than I thought, and they came out PERFECT!!!

I substituted Curtis' crepe recipe for a gluten free one from Pamela's Products, it was a great recipe! I was pretty surprised, some times gluten free recipes aren't the best, but this one turned out perfect! Anyway without further ado, here is my dinner!

here's what it supposed to looked like when all is said and done

sorry this one won't rotate for me...so just turn your head to see it right. :)

I didn't do any dessert tonight because I just made cookies yesterday and crepes were a big enough project to take on by themselves!

I'd like to say one last thing. Dear Curtis, you are amazing.

Barefoot in the Park

I've always loved this movie with Jane Fonda and Robert Redford! They're just adorable as a couple, and its such a fun movie! Jane Fonda is fabulous in it, and Robert Redford is as handsome as ever! And the pink dress she wears in the movie is so cute, I've always always wished I had one just like it, and the coat that goes with it I die (couldn't find a picture of the coat so you'll have to watch the movie to see it).

The Olympics!!! pt.2

So last weekend my parents and I went up to Vancouver for the Olympics! It was so crazy!!! I knew there would basquillons of people....but it didn't know there would be BASQUILLONS of people! I was a little overwhelmed at it all! But we had a great time.

We went to men's curling on Saturday night and saw Canada vs Great Britain, Sweden vs France and China vs Switzerland. The Canadian curling fans were a crack up! One man in our section of the arena passed our Canadian flags to everyone, and then he had a HUGE flag (like the type that fly over big buildings) that he would wave over the crowd when Canada made a point.

Then the next day we went in search of the Olympic Flame on the waterfront. I love the cauldron this year, I think it's gorgeous! The only thing I'm mad about at the Olympics this year is that all the little red Canadian mittens (which were the hot seller) were all SOLD OUT!!! I wanted a pair so so so bad! We looked everywhere, I was about ready to start offering strangers money for their pairs I wanted them so bad! Anyway, no luck finding them. (they had an abundance of little kid sizes, I tried to make them fit...nope)

My mom has more pictures, so I'll try and post those when I get them.

The Jenny/Curtis Project: Day 1

I FINALLY cooked something from Curtis's book! It took me forever! Sorry.

Anyway tonight I made pesto linguine with garlic shrimp and roasted cherry tomatoes. I used gluten free noodles that I buy online.

This is what Curtis' looks like...

And this is mine. I over cooked the tomatoes a bit, but everything else came out great!

THEN I made banoffee pie. It's toffee and bananas in one. The crust is supposed to be graham crackers, so I used gluten free pecan shortbread cookies instead. Then the filling is whipped cream and sliced bananas, and it's topped with toffee! Super yummy!

This is Curtis'...

And here's mine!

Dad liked it, so it was a success! :)

I'll try and keep cooking at least once a week! Stayed tuned for Day 2 soon!

Tuesday Sillies: Fractals

So in my Survey of Sutainability class we are doing fractals right now. They're basically a repeating pattern (alittle more to it than that, but thats the basic idea). I'm still not sure how it pertains to sustainability exactly, other than patterns in nature. But they're pretty sweet, so I thought I'd show you some examples of computer generated ones and natural ones!

Happy Tuesday all!

My Lord God
I have no idea where I am going.
I do not see the road ahead of me.
I cannot know for certain where it will end.
Nor do I really know myself,
and the fact that I think I am following
your will does not mean
that I am actually doing so.
But I believe that my desire to please you
does in fact please you.
And I hope that I have that desire
in all that I am doing.
I hope that I will never do anything
apart from that desire.
And I know that if I do this
you will lead me by the right road
though I may know nothing about it.
Therefore will I trust you always
though I may seem to be lost
and in the shadow of death.
I will not fear,
for you are ever with me,
and you will never leave me
to face my perils alone.

The words I was looking for!

Ashlee said it best tonight on Twitter. I miss LA. I miss it like an ex-boyfriend. We broke up but I still love him. Heartbroken.

I could never explain what it felt like before!!! I know I left LA of my own accord so it was my decision, but I will always love it and miss it a little. Its just like a boyfriend who you know isn't right for you and the relationship isn't going anywhere so you break up, but you still have feelings for him. LA is my ex-boyfriend who I will always wish it could have worked out witg, but I will cherish the times we had together, and look forward to what's to ahead. I love you LA and all your craziness.

Wednesday inspiration: a post to make you hungry!!!

Have I ever told you how much I like candy. I'd live off it if I could. But lately I've been trying to not eat so much sugar, and I've been really really good at it...until this week. But its just that week when I crave sugar (if you know what I mean). So here is my Wednesday inspiration of candy and cookies and all things sugary.

Also its Valentines week and everyone is eating candys and cookies and cupcakes so its ok. :) Happy Wednesday!

5 things to love this Sunday!

1. Zippers!

I am obsessed with zippers right now! I got a pair of ballet pink shoes with a zipper rosette on them this week; they're amazing!

2. Linea Paolo shoes

He is my favorite shoe designer! I love him because his shoes are designer shoes I can actually afford! My shoes mentioned above are Paolo's.

3.  Hot Chocolate

All winter I have been drinking hot chocolate! Its just so warm and cozy.

4. Necklaces

I have recently become crazy obsessed with necklaces! I used to just keep my two Tiffany necklaces on all the time and never put on any others or switch them out. Now I love layering like twenty necklaces at a time, ok maybe not twenty but you get the idea. This is me on Christmas Eve, I think I had on about five that night, you can't see them all in this pic though...

5. FEATHERSSSSS

I love all feathers. Fake feathers, real feathers, feathers printed on shirts, feathers in hair, feathers on jewelry.... I started a small business, I guess you could call it, of making feather hair accessories and I have so much fun doing it! If nothing else comes from it, then I just have fun doing it!

The Jenny/Curtis Project

Today my mom and I were eating breakfast (I made us french toast) and we turned on The Today Show and who was on the screen? Only my most favoritest chef ever! Curtis Stone! Oh I love him! I got to meet him last spring at a book signing! I was so excited I almost peed my pants! (not really don't worry)

There's the girls and me with Cutis. ::sigh:: I love him. Woah, sorry what just happened, ok back to what I was saying. So Curtis was on the Today Show and mom and I were talking about cooking and she said I should do " The Jenny/Curtis Project" and cook through his book Relaxed Cooking With Curtis Stone.

Yes its totally copying Julie from Julie and Julia but its such a fun idea! I do love to cook, I've gotten away from it the past couple years though, it just became so boring doing it for just myself. So anyway I think I'm going to start this project! I probably will only do a dish from each section a week so as not to overwhelm myself (I am a grad student after all and have important things to do). I'll keep you posted on how its going and share my cooking adventures in pictures and words!

Let the wild cooking start!

A picture a day keeps the doctor away.

I've started a new project. Or, well, started it about a week ago, on my 25th birthday. I'm doing a picture a day with my new and amazing Fujifilm Instax mini camera!

I love it so so so much! My awesome parents got it for me (mom's a photographer so gets easily excited about new toys!).  I am just taking pictures of anything and everything during the day. And then if I feel like it I might write a quick little note about that day. I'm not much a journaler (is that a word?) so I thought this would be a fun way for me to do it!

Here's what my book looks like.

I just got a notebook and did decoupage on the front. I couldn't find any scrapbooks I liked or that would be big enough to hold 365 pictures so settled for a notebook.

I'm keeping is super simple, not doing much more than putting each days picture on a page and maybe doing a quick journal entry. If I did it all fancy shmansy I'd get tired of doing it everyday an stop; and I really really want to do it everyday until my birthday next year!

Well anyway, I just wanted to share my fun little year long project! Hope your Hump Day was great! Mine was a laid back one including homework and watching movies with my laid up mommy. :)
